Even during summer, the weather in Batanes is relatively cooler than the rest of the Philippines. The coolest months are December to March where temperature falls below 10 degrees. Dry months are from March to June. The Ivatans are the indigenous peoples of this province. They speak a unique dialect and have a distinct tradition and culture. Kalusan is a toil song usually sung while working in the fields or sawing tree trunks. This is sung to lift the spirit of the workers to make the task lighter and fun and enhance unity as well.  The Imnajbu Village is the site of the first Catholic mass and baptism. The barrio chapel is named after the first Filipino saint, San Lorenzo Ruiz.
